Subject: Iraqi minister injured in roadside bombing


BAGHDAD, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- An Iraqi government minister and
two of his bodyguards have been wounded in a roadside bomb explosion
in Baghdad.
Samir al-Attar, deputy Minister of Science and Technology,
was driving through the eastern neighborhood of Zayouna when an
explosion occurred near his two-vehicle convoy, the Kuwait News
Agency KUNA reported Wednesday.
A drive-by shooting in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul
Wednesday claimed the lives of four policemen and injured a woman
and child, while in Diyala province at least six people were killed
and 18 wounded in a suicide bombing at an outdoor market, police
reported.
Police Col. Ragheb al-Omairi, a spokesman of Diyala military
operation, said the attack happened in Muqdadiya and most of the
casualties were civilians, CNN said.
CNN reported six dead in the incident while the BBC reported
seven had died.
Three . soldiers died in a roadside bomb explosion
Wednesday, the military said in a statement.
